Through the Windscreen

From a kid in the Boy Scouts I was always taught to “Look where you’re going…not where you are at”..back then that was all about hiking. Those lessons paid off pretty well especially when into my life came Motorcycles. Desert Racing, Enduros, Traveling, Roadracing, and more Traveling. And more traveling…and more…You get the picture.  And that is what this little story is about…pictures of looking through the windscreen and seeing and questioning…”Where am I going today?”

As a member of a few, ok…a lot of … motorcycle traveling, long distance riders, moto-campers internet sites I see all kinds of great photo’s of where I have been and where I want to go. My favorite pictures though are always the ones sitting in the saddle and showing the road ahead looking through the windscreen.

As I look at those photos I get the feeling of  “wow…this is so perfect”. These are the moments that get set in your mind. Some days are planned, some days are kind of planned, and the best ones are when your motorcycle is warming up, you’re putting on your gear, you sit on your motorcycle, look out or over the windscreen and ask yourself…”where do I want to go today??” Well, for me,  first stop is usually the closest gas station…I have a very thirsty motorcycle.

As I sit on my motorcycle in the driveway looking out at the Sunrise I can’t help but feel how lucky I am and all the rest of you thinking the same thing at that one moment. Then, Click into 1st gear ands start your adventure for the day. There are some days that actually, that picture is ” Oh, I wish I was going somewhere interesting, somewhere beautiful…but NOOOOO…I have to go to work”. Well, make the best of it. Leave early and take the long way to work. Better yet….go to work, go have lunch and come back from lunch and tell the boss you’re not feeling well, must have been some bad shrimp..for added effect, before you do that, stick your finger down your throat, throw up on your desk and they’ll send you home !! Now it’s Ride Time !!

Ride Far, Ride Safe and I’ll see you on the Road. Paul
